External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar greeted the prime minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina on Friday night in New Delhi as she started her State Visit to India at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s invitation.
With the recent Lok Sabha elections, India formed a new administration, and Hasina’s arrival marks the first bilateral state visit.

Taking to the platform X, Foreign Minister informed about his meeting with Sheikh Hasina. He wrote, “Delighted to call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh this evening. Her State visit to India underlines our close and abiding ties. Appreciate her guidance on the further development of our special partnership.”
In addition to her scheduled meetings with President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Hasina will attend bilateral conversations with PM Modi while in the country.
Hasina was one of the world leaders present at Prime Minister Modi’s and the Union Council of Ministers’ swearing-in event, which took place here on June 9.
