Following Jyoti Malhotra’s Arrest, Punjab Police Nab Another YouTuber In Espionage Case

In a significant development following the arrest of YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, Punjab Police on Wednesday claimed to have exposed a broader espionage network connected to another YouTuber, Jasbir Singh, a resident of Rupnagar.

Jasbir, who runs the YouTube channel ‘JaanMahal’, has reportedly been in contact with a Pakistani intelligence handler named Shakir, also known as Jutt Randhawa.

Authorities have linked him to a terror-backed espionage ring.

According to Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, Jasbir maintained regular contact with both Jyoti Malhotra and Pakistani national Ehsan-ur-Rahim, alias Danish, an expelled official from the Pakistan High Commission.

This was revealed in a statement posted on the social media platform X.

The police have also established that Jasbir attended a Pakistan National Day function in Delhi at the invitation of Danish. There, he met several Pakistani army personnel and bloggers.

Investigations further revealed that Jasbir had travelled to Pakistan on three occasions — in 2020, 2021, and 2024.

His electronic devices, now under detailed forensic analysis, were found to contain several Pakistani numbers.

Following Jyoti Malhotra’s arrest, Jasbir reportedly tried to delete all communications with Pakistani handlers in a bid to avoid detection.

FIR Registered & Probe Ongoing

An FIR has been registered in Mohali, and the DGP stated that ongoing investigations aim to dismantle the larger espionage-terror network and trace all its associates.

Separately, the previous day, Counter-Intelligence Punjab, along with Tarn Taran Police, arrested Gagandeep Singh, alias Gagan. He is a Tarn Taran resident accused of passing sensitive military data to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) during Operation Sindoor.

Preliminary findings revealed that Gagandeep had maintained direct contact with Pakistan-based Khalistani supporter Gopal Singh Chawla for five years.

It was through Chawla that he was introduced to ISI operatives.

Authorities believe Gagandeep shared classified details such as troop movements, strategic sites, and operational plans. This posed a significant risk to national security.

Two mobile phones containing vital intelligence and over 20 ISI contacts have been recovered from him.

The DGP also confirmed that Gagandeep received payments via Indian financial routes from his handlers.
