Foiled Train Derailment Attempts In Madhya Pradesh And Uttar Pradesh Raise Alarm

Authorities have successfully thwarted two train derailment Attempts In Madhya Pradesh And Uttar Pradesh, prompting heightened concerns about coordinated sabotage efforts targeting the country’s rail network.

In Madhya Pradesh’s Nepanagar Assembly constituency, unknown assailants plotted to derail a special train by placing ten detonators on the tracks. The driver became aware of the danger when an explosion occurred as the train passed over the explosives. Acting swiftly, he halted the train and alerted the station master, averting what could have been a catastrophic accident. The site has since been inspected by top officials from the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), the National Investigation Agency (NIA), railway authorities, and local police.

Railway Board Chairman Satish Kumar confirmed the gravity of the situation, stating, “This is a matter of various investigations, and our railway staff is fully alert. Our security agency immediately launched an investigation, and one person has been apprehended. Investigations take time, and we are following a systematic approach.”

In a separate incident in Uttar Pradesh, another derailment attempt was foiled when the loco pilot of a Kanpur-bound JTTN goods train spotted an empty 5-litre cylinder placed on the tracks near Prempur station around 5:50 a.m. Loco pilot Devendra Gupta quickly applied the emergency brakes, successfully stopping the train before any damage could occur. Railway Protection Force (RPF) and other teams promptly arrived to remove the cylinder from the tracks.

Shashikant Tripathi, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of North Central Railway, announced that security agencies have registered cases for both incidents. He emphasized, “The investigations will help determine who is behind these acts and their motives.”

Both incidents are currently under thorough investigation, with railway authorities remaining vigilant to prevent any future attempts to compromise rail safety. The swift actions of the train crews and security personnel highlight the importance of alertness in ensuring passenger safety amid rising threats to rail operations.
