Days after a Spanish travel vlogger was reportedly subjected to a horrifying ordeal in Jharkhand’s Dumka, new and distressing details of the March 1 incident have come to light. According to The Indian Express, citing the police FIR, the 28-year-old woman was allegedly threatened with a dagger, physically assaulted, and then raped by a group of seven men over a two-and-a-half-hour period.
The incident occurred at Kurumahat in the Hansdiha police station area, approximately 300 km from the state capital Ranchi, while the victim and her husband were spending the night in a tent. The police have registered an FIR under IPC sections 376D (gangrape) and 395 (dacoity) based on the woman’s statement, which was recorded at 2:05 am on March 2 at the community health center.
According to the FIR, the assailants initially got into a confrontation with the victim’s husband, assaulting him and tying his hands. The woman described how four of the men then forcibly took her, threatening her with a dagger, and proceeded to assault and rape her while she was thrown on the ground.
The FIR also mentions that the perpetrators appeared to be under the influence of alcohol during the ordeal, which lasted from around 7:30 pm to 10 pm.
The couple had decided to stay at Kumrahat village in Dumka during their journey and set up a makeshift tent for an overnight stay in a nearby forested area. They encountered suspicious activity around 7 pm, hearing voices and spotting individuals on motorcycles. Subsequently, a group of people approached their tent, engaging in conversation before swiftly turning hostile.
