Family Of Bharat Ratna Awardee Karpoori Thakur Meets PM Modi; Said, The Day Of Announcement Felt Like Diwali

Family of Shri Karpoori Thakur, Bharat Ratna awardee and former Chief Minister of Bihar met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday to express gratitude for bestowing the highest civilian award to late Mr. Thakur.  Centre government led by Bhartiya Janata Party announced Bharat Ratna posthumously to Karpoori Thakur ji. He was popularly known as ‘Jannayak’, the leader of people because of his constant efforts for the development of the society. This year is the birth centenary year of Mr. Thakur.

Diwali for Thakur family

Mr. Ramnath Thakur, son of late Shri Karpoori Thakur expressed himself and said that he had come along with his family to express gratitude towards the decision taken by the Central government. He said, “We are really happy, the public of Bihar is really happy and our family is really happy…”.

One of the family members came up on camera to express himself. He said that as soon as we got to know that Karpoori ji was going to be felicitated with Bharat Ratna, there was a wave of happiness in the entire family and the village. People in the neighborhood were really happy, there was sound of firecrackers all around, and sweets were distributed as if it was Diwali. He said, “…it felt as if it is the occasion of Diwali…”

Prime Minister Modi takes the meet-up to social media

After meeting family of the Bharat Ratna Awardee, PM Modi shared a post on X (formerly known as Twitter). In the post, he expressed his feelings and wrote, “He was happy to  meet the family members of Bharat Ratna awarded public leader Karpoori Thakur ji. Karpuri ji has been the messiah of the backward and deprived sections of the society, whose life and ideals will continue to inspire the countrymen.”
