Ex Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren Accuses Governor CP Radhakrishnan Of Being Involved In His Arrest

Ranchi: Hemant Soren, the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, has accused Governor CP Radhakrishnan of playing a role in his recent arrest by the Enforcement Directorate. Addressing the Jharkhand Assembly ahead of the floor test, Soren claimed that on the night of January 31, he became the first Chief Minister in the country to be arrested, and he believes the Raj Bhavan was involved in the incident.

Background

Soren was taken into custody in connection with a money-laundering investigation, leading to his resignation as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand. Subsequently, Champai Soren, a minister in his government, assumed the leadership of the legislative party and was sworn in as the new Chief Minister.

Hemant Soren took special permission from the court and attended the floor test for the new Champai Soren government. In his address to the assembly, amidst supportive slogans, Hemant Soren stated that his party has not accepted defeat, emphasizing the strength of the people of Jharkhand.

Hemant Soren Accuses BJP

Accusing the BJP of not wanting a tribal Chief Minister to complete a full term in Jharkhand, Hemant Soren articulated that he would quit politics if the ED’s accusations against him were proven in court.

Soren said, “Today I have been arrested on charges of 8.5 acre land scam. If they have the courage, then show the documents of the land registered in my name. If it is proved, I will quit politics. Main aansu nahi bahaunga, aansu waqt ke liye rakhuga, aap logo ke liye aansu ka koi matlab nahi.”

Chief Minister Champai Soren Alleges Injustice Done To Hemant Soren

Chief Minister Champai Soren, in his response during the debate, accused the BJP of attempting to destabilize a democratically elected government in Jharkhand. He highlighted the alleged injustice done to Hemant Soren and claimed widespread support for Hemant Soren’s schemes across the country.

Hemant Soren’s party, JMM, had earlier asserted that the governor intentionally delayed Champai Soren’s swearing-in ceremony to provide the BJP with an opportunity for horse-trading. Following the formation of the new government, JMM sequestered its MLAs in a resort in Congress-ruled Telangana, and they returned to Ranchi on Sunday evening to participate in the crucial floor test.
