The Enforcement Directorate conducted searches on Tuesday targeting Jharkhand Congress MLA Amba Prasad and several associates allegedly linked to her as part of a probe into money laundering, according to official sources.

Approximately 17-18 locations in Ranchi and other cities within the state were under scrutiny, the sources stated. The 36-year-old legislator represents the Barkagaon assembly constituency in Hazaribag district.

The Enforcement Directorate’s action stems from a series of FIRs related to purported illegal sand mining, extortion, and other offenses, all falling under the purview of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), the sources added.

Searches are currently underway at Amba Prasad’s residence in Ranchi and various other sites, including in Hazaribagh, where Prasad represents the Barkagaon assembly seat.
