With signs pointing to Nitish Kumar moving into national politics, party supporters have begun urging him to remain in Bihar.
A poster campaign initiated by JD(U) worker Krishna Patel has appeared across party offices and several locations in Patna.
The posters display images of Nitish Kumar, his son Nishant Kumar, and JD(U) state president Umesh Kushwaha.
The message on the posters makes a direct emotional appeal, asking him not to leave Bihar or its people behind. It highlights his role in providing stability and suggests that his unfinished work could be continued by Nishant Kumar.
Nitish Kumar, who has been Bihar’s Chief Minister since November 2005, secured an unopposed election to the Rajya Sabha on March 16. He later stepped down as a Member of the Legislative Council on 30 March.
Earlier on Thursday, Nitish Kumar reached Delhi and will likely take oath as a Rajya Sabha MP today.
Speaking briefly to the media, Nitish Kumar indicated that he may now stay in Delhi and hinted that Bihar could see a change in leadership within the next three to four days.
Political developments in the state have picked up pace following this indication.
After his return to Patna, efforts to form a new government are likely to accelerate on the 13th of the month.
A key meeting of NDA allies has already taken place to discuss the next steps.
Sources, however, indicate that the formation of the new government may happen after Kharmas, a period considered inauspicious in the Hindu calendar.
Discussions are ongoing regarding the swearing-in ceremony, which is likely to take place at Gandhi Maidan.
In a notable shift, Bihar may see a Chief Minister from the Bharatiya Janata Party for the first time.
A BJP Core Committee meeting is currently underway in Delhi. Senior leaders, including both Deputy Chief Ministers of Bihar, are working to finalise the plan. The discussions focus on forming the next government.
