Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget for the 8th consecutive year on Saturday. After the Budget announcement, the political leaders came to share their responses.
The Congress takes a swipe at the Center, saying that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman spoke of four engines of development while they called the budget “completely derailed”.
During her budget speech, the Finance Minister said that agriculture, MSME, investments, and exports are the four power engines of development.

Meanwhile, DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran expressed his disappointment with the Union Budget 2025, he called it an election-focused strategy rather than a balanced financial plan.
Moreover, Maran said that the Budget was designed to appeal to voters in Delhi, especially with the upcoming Delhi elections on February 5.
Congress MP Manish Tewari said he failed to understand whether this was a budget of the government of India or a budget of the government of Bihar. “Have you heard the name of another state than Bihar in the entire budgetary speech of the union finance minister?…”
Meanwhile, Home Minister Amit Shah hailed Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s Budget Speech. He took to X and shared that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always prioritized the middle class.
Taking to X, he wrote, “The middle class is always in PM Modi’s heart. Zero Income Tax till ₹12 Lakh Income. The proposed tax exemption will go a long way in enhancing the financial well-being of the middle class. Congratulations to all the beneficiaries on this occasion. #ViksitBharatBudget2025.”
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh took to X and congratulated the Finance Minister for the Union Budget speech. “I congratulate Finance Minister Smt. @nsitharaman for presenting an excellent and epoch-making budget that aligns with Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat”, he wrote.
Rajnath Singh further said that this budget has taken an all-inclusive approach, from empowering poor sections of our society, to farmers to MSME to industries. It has taken the special care of the middle and salaried class.
