Hans, a 1997 batch officer, first gained attention when he and former RJD MLA Gulab Yadav faced accusations of gang rape.

Following the submission of a supervisory report by Patna SSP Rajiv Mishra, the ED initiated its investigation, which highlights significant financial transactions.

Earlier, on 9 July, search operations were also carried out in various regions of Delhi, Punjab, and Bihar.

The recent searches in Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai resulted in the seizure of Rs 90 lakh and 15 kilograms of silver bullion.

Currently, IAS Sanjeev Hans serves as the Principal Secretary of the Energy Department and the CMD of Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited (BSPHCL).

Under his leadership, BSPHCL recently received the prestigious Scotch Gold Award for exceptional contributions to the energy sector.

Additionally, Bihar achieved the top position among Eastern states in successfully implementing all modules of SAMAST this year.

Former MLA Gulab Yadav, who previously belonged to the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), was denied a ticket from the party for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The alliance allocated the Jhanjharpur seat to the Developmental Human Party, prompting Yadav to contest on a BSP ticket, but he did not succeed in the elections.

Yadav is a well-known figure in the political arena.
