EAM Jaishankar, Oman Foreign Minister Hold Strategic Talks On Trade And Regional Affairs

External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar on Saturday met Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi in New Delhi, where both sides exchanged views on strengthening cooperation in trade, critical minerals and regional matters. The discussions underlined the growing trust and depth of the India–Oman Strategic Partnership.

Sharing details of the meeting on the social media platform X, Jaishankar said, “A pleasure interacting with FM @badralbusaidi of Oman this morning. Our discussions on trade, critical minerals and regional developments reflected the trust and comfort of our Strategic Partnership.”

Oman’s Foreign Minister is in New Delhi to participate in the second India–Arab Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (IAFMM), being jointly hosted by India and the United Arab Emirates. The Ministry of External Affairs welcomed the visit, stating that it would contribute to further strengthening the wide-ranging partnership between India and Oman.

Engagement with Arab League Leadership

A day earlier, EAM Jaishankar met League of Arab States Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit. Their conversation covered ways to enhance cooperation across multiple sectors, along with an exchange of perspectives on recent developments in the region.

Jaishankar also held separate meetings with the Foreign Ministers of Comoros, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Palestine. These interactions focused on expanding bilateral engagement and reinforcing cooperation in areas of shared interest.

India is hosting the second edition of the IAFMM on Saturday, with Foreign Ministers from Arab League Member States and the League’s Secretary General in attendance. The meeting aims to deepen existing ties and broaden the scope of the India–Arab partnership.

The Foreign Ministers’ Meeting is taking place after a decade, following the first such meeting held in Bahrain in 2016. During that meeting, leaders identified five priority areas of cooperation—economy, energy, education, media and culture.

The MEA stated that the India–Arab Foreign Ministers’ Meeting serves as the highest institutional forum guiding this partnership, which India and the League of Arab States formally established through a Memorandum of Understanding in March 2002.
