Dr Rajeshwar Singh Leads Launch Of Five-Day Panch-Sutriya Katha Mahotsav In Krishna Nagar

The Bharat Vikas Parishad (Awadh Prant) inaugurated the five-day Panch-Sutriya Katha Mahotsav on Friday at Sumitnath Seva Bhawan in Krishna Nagar, Lucknow.

Inspired by the RSS centenary celebrations, the festival commenced with devotional and cultural fervour.

Sarojininagar MLA Dr Rajeshwar Singh attended as the chief guest and described the Panch-Sutriya concept—connection, cooperation, culture, service and dedication—as five foundational pillars that strengthen national consciousness and foster social harmony.

Dr Singh presented a detailed, evidence-based analysis of the growing environmental crisis.

Highlighting India’s traditional reverence for nature, he shared alarming statistics: between 2013 and 2023, groundwater levels in several areas of Lucknow fell by up to 20 metres.

Globally, air pollution causes 6.7 million premature deaths annually, with India accounting for nearly 17–20 lakh of these fatalities.

He also referenced the shifting World Overshoot Day.

“In 1970, the date fell on 25 December, meaning humanity lived within the Earth’s annual ecological capacity. Today, it has advanced to 24 July, showing that we exhaust a year’s worth of resources in just seven months,” he said.

Sarojininagar as a Model for Environmental Action

Dr Singh stated that Sarojininagar has emerged as a leader in eco-friendly initiatives. The region hosts more than 50 per cent of Lucknow’s installed solar capacity.

Under local initiatives, over 30,000 eco-friendly bags have been distributed among students to encourage environmental awareness. He noted that such grassroots actions play a crucial role in protecting natural resources.

The event honoured individuals who have significantly contributed to environmental conservation.

Chandra Bhushan Tiwari—popularly known as ‘Ped Wale Baba’—along with Rajendra Pratap Singh and Vijay Saxena, received recognition for their sustained efforts.

A special environmental booklet authored by Garima Mishra was also released.

RSS regional publicity head Subhash Ji encouraged the audience to adopt water conservation and tree plantation as everyday responsibilities.

He said, “We must transform plantation drives into a mass movement and ensure disciplined use of water in daily life.”

Dr Singh expressed gratitude to the organisers, including organisation minister Vikrant Khandelwal and general secretary SK Saxena, for the smooth conduct of the programme.

He also thanked Ashok Maharaj, Subhash Ji, Yashodanandan Ji, Birendra Singh Chaudhary, RK Bhadauria, Ram Autar, Shankari Singh, Councillor Geeta Devi, Sanjeev Awasthi, KN Singh, Ranjana Mishra and other distinguished guests for their participation.
