Rajya Sabha MP and former Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Dr Dinesh Sharma stated that neglecting Hindi and regional languages in India would be inappropriate. He addressed a student-teacher interaction programme organised by the Pune Institute of Business Management in Maharashtra.
During his speech, Dr Dinesh Sharma said the Central government is actively promoting regional languages and strengthening their development. He remarked that Hindi and regional languages share a close relationship like sisters and added that India must achieve the vision of Viksit Bharat through Swadeshi principles.
Dr Dinesh Sharma noted that after the BJP government assumed office, the usage of Hindi in Central ministries increased from 35 per cent to nearly 65 per cent. He emphasised that India’s 65 per cent youth population possesses the capability to drive national growth.
The Rajya Sabha MP also warned that declining fertility rates could gradually transform India from a youthful nation into an ageing society.
According to him, the country requires skilled youth to fulfil the vision of a developed India.
Dr Sharma praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives aimed at making young citizens skill-oriented and employment-ready. He highlighted rapid development in Uttar Pradesh, particularly in higher education, infrastructure, connectivity and law and order.
Sharing experiences from his United States visit, Dr Dinesh Sharma said Indian students consistently displayed exceptional intellectual ability and should not migrate abroad permanently. He stated that true educators always remain eager to learn.
Dr Dinesh Sharma supported PM Modi’s appeal to reduce unnecessary gold purchases and avoid foreign travel. He further said ongoing conflicts involving Russia, Ukraine, Iran and several Arab nations were disrupting global supply chains and affecting economic stability.
The Rajya Sabha MP added that responsible spending and economic restraint would help India protect foreign exchange reserves and maintain strength in international trade.
