Dr Dinesh Sharma Says BJP’s Strength Lies In Ideology, Workers

Rajya Sabha MP and former Deputy Chief Minister Dr Dinesh Sharma addressed a training session under the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Worker Training Campaign in Lakhimpur district.

Dr Dinesh Sharma stated that the BJP functions as an organisation-based party in which both workers and ideology play a central role. He added that this characteristic distinguishes the BJP from parties such as the Samajwadi Party, BSP, and Congress.

The former Deputy Chief Minister emphasised that the party carries out its work firmly in accordance with its policies and principles. He cited the construction of the Ram Temple and the enactment of the triple talaq law as significant examples. He also referred to the abrogation of Article 370.

Dr Sharma said that the party once declared, ‘Where Mukherjee made his sacrifice, that Kashmir is ours’, and noted that today the national flag flies proudly at Lal Chowk in Kashmir, where Vande Mataram is also sung. He stated that the legacy of Syama Prasad Mukherjee has influenced Bengal’s political direction. He added that the BJP nurtures its workers and enables them to rise from smaller roles to higher positions.

Dr Sharma said that a BJP worker remains committed to the party for life once associated with it. He noted that the party was established as the Bharatiya Jana Sangh on 21 October 1951 and that its early years were marked by significant challenges. He pointed out that the party initially had only three Members of Parliament.

Dr Sharma said that the Jana Sangh opposed the Nehru-Noon Agreement and supported Tibet’s independence. He added that the party had resolved in 1964 to make India a nuclear-capable nation.

The Rajya Sabha MP also mentioned that Deendayal Upadhyaya’s untimely and mysterious death occurred when the party was nearing power.

Dr Sharma stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has fulfilled his responsibility towards the nation like a guardian. He said that the appeal to reduce petroleum consumption and limit gold purchases during the global energy crisis reflects a broader vision to sustain national growth.

Dr Sharma added that India remains stable in terms of petroleum supply. He said countries such as Australia, Britain, and Pakistan are facing difficulties. He also stated that PM Modi has effectively utilised challenging situations for national benefit.

Dr Sharma also cited the COVID-19 pandemic as an example. He noted that India developed three vaccines and assisted over 100 countries during the crisis. He added that India has emerged as a strong global leader.

Dr Sharma said that the Congress imposed the Emergency in 1975, violating constitutional principles. He added that although several political parties have experienced splits, the BJP has remained united due to its ideological foundation.

The Rajya Sabha MP also participated in the ‘Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Training Maha Abhiyan 2026’ in Lakhimpur. During the programme, he interacted with party workers. He also provided organisational and ideological training to them.

Dr Sharma also visited an exhibition highlighting the BJP’s development, governance, service, and historical journey, and encouraged the workers.
