The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has opted to modify the color code of the upcoming Delhi Aerocity-Tughlakabad corridor, currently under construction as part of Phase-IV. The decision involves changing the color from ‘silver’ to ‘golden’ to enhance visibility and convenience for passengers, according to officials on Monday.
In an effort to facilitate easy identification by passengers, the Delhi Metro has implemented color-coded distinctions for all its operational corridors. The choice to shift from ‘silver’ to ‘golden’ for the Delhi Aerocity–Tughlakabad metro corridor aims to address concerns related to visibility on trains. The DMRC explained that the golden color is more distinct and clear on the stainless steel body of the metro trains compared to silver, which tends to blend with the overall silvery texture.

The official statement from DMRC emphasized that the selection of ‘golden’ as the color code ensures better visibility and convenience for passengers. Each corridor’s color code is prominently displayed through a colored strip on the body of the trains. For instance, a train operating on the blue line is easily identified by a blue strip below the window.
Spanning a length of 23.62 km and featuring 15 stations, the Aerocity–Tughlakabad corridor will connect the Kashmere Gate–Raja Nahar Singh corridor (Violet Line) with the Airport Express Line. This extension is expected to improve connectivity to various new areas in the southern part of the national capital.
The corridor’s operational commencement is projected for March 2026, providing an enhanced transportation network for the residents of Delhi.
