Dinesh Sharma Says India Advancing Toward Global Leadership, Calls For Social Unity

Rajya Sabha MP and former Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma said India is rapidly moving toward global leadership. He stated that while invaders looted the country, they could not take away its culture and values.

He said India’s traditions were preserved by sections of society committed to protecting religious sites and reciting the Vedas.

According to him, the Mughals and the British divided Indian society along caste lines to prevent followers of Sanatan Dharma from uniting. He added that those who recited scriptures and wore the shikha and janeu were among the first to face persecution in attempts to weaken social unity.

Sharma said the community identified as Brahmins played a key role in keeping society connected during difficult times. Citing the example of weddings, he said responsibilities were traditionally distributed among different sections of society, fostering cohesion and collective participation.

Call For Unity Beyond Caste

Sharma said the role of Brahmins has been to preserve traditions, safeguard Sanatan Dharma, unite society, and protect respect for deities. He emphasized that in the present time, unity of Sanatan followers and society as a whole is more important than caste distinctions.

He said society has united after a long period, pointing to events such as the Maha Kumbh Mela, Magh Mela and various festivals as examples of growing unity. He said this unity must not be allowed to fragment.

Sharma also noted visible cultural changes in recent years. He said that whereas people once gathered in hotels to celebrate the New Year, many now stand in long queues outside temples for darshan. He described this as a return of India’s cultural pride and a period of awakening for Sanatan Dharma, adding that the world witnessed this spirit during the Maha Kumbh.

He cited developments such as the Ram Mandir Ayodhya, Kashi Vishwanath Corridor and Mahakal Lok as milestones in this cultural resurgence. He also praised event organizers for honoring people from all castes.
