Dinesh Sharma Lays Foundation Stone For Kalyan Mandap Reconstruction In Lucknow

Rajya Sabha MP and former Deputy Chief Minister Dr Dinesh Sharma stated that the Kalyan Mandap reflects the spirit of welfare and public service for residents.

Speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the reconstruction of the Municipal Corporation Kalyan Mandap in Sant Sudarshanpuri, Aishbagh, Dr Dinesh Sharma said former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had introduced the concept of Kalyan Mandaps for economically weaker sections of society. He noted that the first Kalyan Mandap in Lucknow was established in Sudarshanpuri Colony, a major settlement of the Dhanuk community engaged in sanitation work.

Dr Dinesh Sharma announced that reconstruction work on the Kalyan Mandap would begin during the ongoing Atal Centenary Year celebrations with financial support of Rs 2.5 crore from his CSR fund. He informed that the Lucknow Municipal Corporation would function as the executing agency for the redevelopment project.

Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, several BJP leaders, civic officials and local representatives attended the programme.

Dr Dinesh Sharma praised the work carried out by the Municipal Corporation and said the present Mayor had accelerated development activities across the state capital. He remarked that the BJP governments not only lay foundation stones for projects but also ensure their successful completion with durable quality standards that benefit the public for years.

The senior BJP leader also credited Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s tenure as Lucknow MP for several important development projects in the city.

Additional Civic Amenities Announced

During the programme, Dr Dinesh Sharma directed officials to install six solar lights, one high mast light and one water cooler in Sudarshanpuri Colony to improve local amenities.

Mayor Sushma Kharkwal stated that efforts were underway to complete the reconstruction work with high-quality standards by November 15.

Dr Dinesh Sharma described members of the Dhanuk and Kannaujia Dhobi communities living near his residence as part of his extended family. He said Atal Bihari Vajpayee had envisioned a society free from caste discrimination, where people lived together harmoniously.

According to him, children from the area had made significant progress in education, and living standards had improved under the BJP government.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dr Dinesh Sharma said the Prime Minister honoured members of the Valmiki and Dhanuk communities during the Kumbh by washing their feet, sending a message of dignity and respect towards sanitation workers. He also described his tenure in the Municipal Corporation as one of the most meaningful phases of his political journey.
