Dhanteras 2026: CM Yogi Adityanath Urges People To Buy Local Products, Support Artisans

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday extended greetings to people on Dhanteras and urged them to support local artisans and craftsmen by choosing traditional products as festive gifts.

In a post on X, CM Yogi described Dhanteras as a festival symbolising prosperity, auspiciousness and well-being. He further encouraged people to include the state’s artisans in their celebrations and promote their work, which contributes to preserving Uttar Pradesh’s cultural heritage.

Highlighting the state’s traditional crafts, the Chief Minister mentioned Bhadohi’s carpets, Prayagraj’s moonj craft, Mainpuri’s tarkashi and Chitrakoot’s wooden toys. He said Uttar Pradesh’s exports had increased from ₹84,000 crore in 2016-17 to more than ₹2 lakh crore in 2025-26, reflecting the enterprise and capabilities of its artisans.

CM Yogi highlighted the role of modern expo marts in Lucknow and Greater Noida, along with Bhadohi’s Carpet Bazaar, in giving traditional crafts greater recognition on global platforms.

Invoking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative, the Chief Minister appealed to people to choose One District One Product (ODOP) items as gifts this Dhanteras. He further said such purchases could support artisans’ livelihoods and promote self-reliance.

The Chief Minister concluded by wishing people on Dhanvantari Jayanti and Dhanteras, calling for a ‘Local Diwali’ and greater participation in building an ‘Aatmanirbhar Uttar Pradesh’.

भदोही के विश्वप्रसिद्ध कालीन, प्रयागराज का मूंज शिल्प, मैनपुरी की तारकशी और चित्रकूट के काष्ठ खिलौने उत्तर प्रदेश की विशिष्ट पहचान हैं। प्रदेश का निर्यात वर्ष 2016-17 के ₹84 हजार करोड़ से बढ़कर वर्ष 2025-26 में ₹2 लाख करोड़ के पार पहुंचना हमारे शिल्पकारों-दस्तकारों की उद्यमशीलता और सामर्थ्य का प्रमाण है।

लखनऊ और ग्रेटर नोएडा के आधुनिक एक्सपो मार्ट तथा भदोही का ‘कार्पेट बाजार’ प्रदेश के पारम्परिक शिल्पों को आज वैश्विक मंचों पर नई पहचान दिला रहे हैं।
