The weight of emotions was palpable as Deputy CM Arun Sawhney and DGP Ashok Juneja solemnly bore the burden.
Akhilesh Rai, hailing from Sherpur village in Gazipur, Uttar Pradesh, met his martyrdom on Thursday in a Chhattisgarh IED blast. The news unleashed a wave of grief in his ancestral village, Sherpur. The fallen hero’s mortal remains are scheduled to arrive at Lucknow airport on Friday afternoon, proceeding thereafter to his hometown, Sherpur.
The helicopter conveyed Akhilesh Rai’s mortal remains to the Raipur BSF camp, where Deputy CM Arun Sawhney and various BSF officials paid their respects in a poignant morning ceremony. Anticipated at Lucknow around 2:45 PM, the 11th Battalion BSF will then transport his remains to Sherpur (Gazipur), with the Last rites slated for Saturday.
