Continuous heavy rainfall in Delhi over the past few days has led to widespread waterlogging, causing traffic congestion for commuters. The national capital has been experiencing unprecedented downpours since Sunday, and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted moderate rainfall for Tuesday.
In order to assist commuters in navigating through the waterlogged roads and dealing with traffic snarls, the Delhi traffic police have issued an advisory, notifying residents about the roads that should be avoided.
According to the advisory, traffic movement will be restricted at the Pragati Maidan tunnel, which has been temporarily closed due to significant waterlogging. Commuters are advised to seek alternative routes.
The advisory further states, “Traffic is affected on C-Hexagon India Gate due to a road cave-in near Shershah road cut. Commuters are advised to plan their journey accordingly.”
The Iron Bridge Pusta Road in Gandhi Nagar has been closed to traffic until further notice due to dangerously high water levels in the Yamuna River.

Additionally, the police have reported heavy traffic on the Old Delhi-Gurugram road in the carriageway from Samalkha to Kapashera due to a bus breakdown near the Samalka bus stop.
Meanwhile, Delhi Police and tunnel maintenance authorities are actively engaged in an extensive pumping operation to mitigate the waterlogging situation.
“We kindly request commuters to consider utilizing alternative routes and modes of transportation available. Adequate signage and information boards have been placed at strategic locations to guide commuters towards the available alternatives,” urged the traffic police.
