Delhi Metro Reopens All Stations After Security Restrictions At Six Stations

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) reopened all stations on Monday evening after temporarily restricting entry and exit at six stations in central Delhi over security concerns linked to planned protests.

In a post on X around 5 PM, the DMRC announced that entry and exit gates across the Metro network had reopened. It further confirmed that interchange facilities at all the affected stations were available, allowing commuters to resume normal travel.

Earlier, the Corporation had suspended entry and exit facilities at Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, Patel Chowk, Janpath, Mandi House and Barakhamba Road from 06:00 AM to 04:00 PM on October 12.

The restrictions were imposed as the Congress-led INDIA bloc planned a protest march towards the Supreme Court, prompting security agencies to review arrangements in central Delhi.

During the day, the DMRC issued an advisory stating that it could temporarily close Metro stations intermittently for security reasons. It said it would share updates on closures and reopening through its official social media channels and website.

The Corporation said security agencies would assess the situation and issue further updates as required. Interchange facilities remained available at the six affected stations during the restrictions.

Monday’s restrictions came two days after authorities temporarily closed 45 Metro stations in view of a protest organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP).

With the latest reopening, commuters can once again access entry, exit and interchange facilities across the Delhi Metro network.
