Delhi Factory Fire: CM Rekha Gupta Expresses Grief; Assures Support To Victims’ Families

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday expressed grief over a fire at a shoe factory in Mangolpuri that killed four people and left two others seriously injured. She assured the affected families of all possible assistance.

The fire broke out at around 9.30 PM on Friday at a factory in Phase 1 of the Mangolpuri Industrial Area, officials said.

In a post on X, Gupta described the incident as heartbreaking and distressing. She extended her condolences to the families of those who died.

The Chief Minister said the relevant agencies were conducting rescue and relief operations. She directed officials to provide proper medical care to the injured and support the affected families.

CM Gupta said her government was speeding up relief efforts and closely monitoring the situation.

After receiving information about the fire, police personnel, fire tenders and rescue teams rushed to the factory. Firefighters worked for several hours to bring the blaze under control.

Rescue teams later pulled six people out of the building. Officials said all six were unconscious when they were rescued.

Phase-I DCP (Outer District) Vikram Singh told reporters that authorities took the six people to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital. Doctors declared four of them dead on arrival, while two remain under treatment.

Officials said an investigation into the incident is underway. Further details are awaited.
