A Delhi Police officer has been suspended and is facing disciplinary measures following a disturbing incident where he was captured on video kicking and assaulting a small group of men who were offering Friday prayers by the side of a busy road.
The officer, who was in charge of a police post in Delhi’s Inderlok area, can be seen in a 34-second video attempting to disperse the men praying near a mosque in the neighborhood. In a sudden display of anger, he is seen kicking two men from behind and appears to strike the second man on his neck. Another longer video shows the same officer violently shoving the praying men.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Delhi North), MK Meena, stated, “In the incident which happened today, the police post-in-charge – who was seen in the video – has been suspended with immediate effect. Necessary disciplinary action is also being taken.” Additionally, a departmental inquiry has been initiated, according to police sources.
The suspended policeman was also involved in altercations with bystanders, resulting in him being assaulted himself. Subsequently, angry protesters blocked the road, demanding action against the officer.
Reports suggest that the men were praying outside because the mosque was full. Security measures have been heightened in the area to ensure law and order.
The Delhi unit of the Congress party condemned the incident, describing it as “very shameful.” They criticized the Delhi Police for their actions, emphasizing the need for accountability and respect for religious practices.
