Delhi Congress Promises 300 Units Of Free Power, Rs 500 LPG Cylinder Ahead Of Elections

Ahead of the 5 February Assembly elections, the Delhi Congress on Thursday announced plans to increase the free monthly electricity limit from 200 units to 300 units, provide LPG cylinders at Rs 500, and offer a free monthly ration kit with 6 kg rice and other essentials if it forms the next government in the national capital.

Urging voters to change the current regime, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy assured that, just like in his state, Congress will implement all five welfare guarantees for the poor in Delhi as well.

Praise For Sheila Dikshit’s Congress Legacy In Delhi Elections

At a press conference with AICC Delhi in-charge Qazi Nizamuddin and Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav, Reddy praised the Congress-led Sheila Dikshit government for bringing the Metro train to Delhi, which has become a model for the entire nation.

“Delhi has the longest Metro and the Congress built it,” he said, noting initiatives such as promoting CNG-driven vehicles and constructing flyovers under Dikshit’s leadership.

Reddy asserted, “Look at the poor state of Delhi ever since the Congress has lost power. Since then, Arvind Kejriwal has been the CM thrice and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also won three terms but the situation in the city has only gotten worse.”

Air Quality & Broken Promises Criticized In Delhi Congress Elections

He lamented that the poor air quality in Delhi remains a critical issue, accusing both Kejriwal and PM Modi of making empty promises, turning the city into a ‘failure’.

Devender Yadav, President of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, said that nearly 17 lakh families in Delhi would benefit from the Rs 500 LPG cylinder initiative every month.

The free ration kit will include 5 kg rice, 2 kg sugar, 1-litre cooking oil, 6 kg pulses, and 250 gm tea, aimed at easing the burden on poor families and helping women focus on their children’s education.

“The Congress will fulfil its five guarantees, like it has done in Telangana, if it will elected to power in Delhi,” he said, adding that the new Congress government will pass welfare proposals for the poor in its first Cabinet meeting.

He also reminded voters of Congress’ additional guarantees, including Rs 2,500 monthly financial assistance to women, Rs 8,500 monthly financial aid to educated, jobless youth, and Rs 25 lakh health insurance for all Delhiites.

The 70-member Delhi Assembly elections will occur on 5 February, with results announced on 8 February. The Congress currently has no representatives in the outgoing Assembly.
