Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Allocates Portfolios After First Cabinet Meeting

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta assigned portfolios to the newly sworn-in ministers on Thursday following the first cabinet meeting.

The state government’s ministries have been distributed among six MLAs who were elected in the recent Delhi Assembly elections and took oath as ministers earlier in the day.

As Chief Minister, Gupta will oversee key departments, including:

  • General Administration,
  • Services,
  • Finance,
  • Revenue,
  • Women and Child Development,
  • Land and Building,
  • Information and Public Relations,
  • Vigilance,
  • Administrative Reforms, and
  • Planning

She will also handle any other departments not specifically assigned to other ministers.

“These departments will remain with me as the Chief Minister: General Administration, Services, Finance, Revenue, Women and Child Development, Land and Building, Information and Public Relations, Vigilance, Administrative Reforms, Planning and other departments not allocated to any other minister,” Delhi CM announced during a press briefing.

She further noted, “In the first Cabinet meeting, we discussed and passed two agendas – to implement in Delhi the Ayushman Bharat scheme with Rs 5 lakhs top up and tabling of 14 CAG reports in the first seating of the Assembly.”

BJP MLA Parvesh Verma has given charge of the Public Works Department (PWD), Legislative Affairs, Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC), Water, and Gurdwara Elections.

Speaking after the cabinet meeting, Verma stated, “Ayushman scheme implemented in Delhi and CAG reports will be tabled soon.”

Minister Ashish Sood has entrusted with Home, Power, Urban Development, Education, Higher Education, and Training and Technical Education.

Manjinder Singh Sirsa, MLA from Rajouri Garden, will handle the Food and Supplies, Forest and Environment, and Industries departments.

Meanwhile, Minister Ravinder Singh (Indraj) has assigned the Social Welfare, SC and ST Welfare, Cooperative, and Elections portfolios.

Kapil Mishra has given charge of Law and Justice, Labour, Employment, Art and Culture, Language, and Tourism, while Pankaj Kumar Singh will oversee Health and Family Welfare, Transport, and Information Technology.

Earlier, CM Rekha Gupta and her cabinet attended the evening Aarti on the banks of the Yamuna, emphasizing that cleaning the river will be a priority for the Delhi government.
