The Delhi government is gearing up to present the budget on March 4, coinciding with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal facing the eighth summons from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the Delhi liquor policy case. The ED has filed a complaint of non-compliance as Kejriwal has skipped all seven previous summons issued since November.
Despite the repeated summons, Kejriwal missed the seventh one on Monday. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) highlighted that the matter is in court, with the next hearing scheduled for March 16. In response, the AAP suggested that the ED should await the court’s decision rather than issuing daily summons.
Delhi’s Finance Minister Atishi, set to present the budget on Monday, will mark her first budget as Finance Minister after joining the Delhi cabinet last year. Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate has issued an eighth summon to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for questioning in the Delhi Excise policy scam case.
While speaking of his plans to comply with the summons, Kejriwal asserted that the summons were an attempt to pressure him.
A city court, responding to the ED’s concerns about Kejriwal evading summons, has directed the Delhi Chief Minister to appear before it on March 16.
