Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presented the annual budget for Delhi for 2026-27, noting the city’s resilience and rapid economic growth.

Speaking in the Delhi Assembly, she highlighted how the capital, despite historical challenges of corruption and political stagnation, has progressed visibly in both data and citizens’ everyday lives.

Addressing the Assembly, CM Gupta said Delhi’s creativity and determination have helped the city overcome challenges and advance at triple-engine speed. She noted GSDP grew 8.9% to Rs 12.13 lakh crore in 2024-25 and is projected to rise 9.8% to Rs 13.27 lakh crore in 2025-26.

The Chief Minister credited visionary leadership and PM Narendra Modi’s guidance for Delhi’s progress, noting that per capita income has crossed Rs 5 lakh and will reach Rs 5.3 lakh, placing the city third nationally.

The 2026-27 budget totals Rs 1,03,700 crore, including Rs 74,000 crore from tax revenue, Rs 900 crore from non-tax revenue, Rs 3,931 crore from centrally sponsored schemes, Rs 592 crore from the Central Road Fund, and Rs 16,700 crore through low-interest market borrowing.

The revised 2025-26 estimate stood at Rs 99,310 crore, with capital expenditure rising to Rs 28,115 crore.

CM Gupta allocated Rs 5,921 crore to PWD and Rs 7,887 crore to Urban Development, planning to expand road coverage from 400 km to 750 km for dust-free, safe roads.

Calling the 2026-27 budget Delhi’s ‘green budget’, CM Gupta further underlined the government’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

The government has allocated 21% of the total budget to green initiatives, ensuring economic growth supports climate-resilient planning and the needs of future generations.

This budget demonstrates a balance between infrastructure expansion, fiscal responsibility, and sustainable development, reflecting Delhi’s vision for a prosperous and environmentally conscious capital.
