Delhi Assembly Marks Bhagwan Mahavir Jayanti; Leaders Highlight Non-Violence, Harmony

A grand ceremony was organised at the Delhi Assembly to mark the 2625th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Mahavir. The event featured addresses by Vijender Gupta, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta, and prominent Jain spiritual leaders, including Acharya Lokesh and Pragya Sagarji.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta extended greetings to the Jain community and said, “Teachings of Bhagwan Mahavir are more relevant in the present times.”

CM Rekha Gupta stressed that the principles of non-violence, truth, and penance strengthen harmony and ethical values in society. She also noted that Delhi’s cultural identity has been enriched by its deep-rooted spirituality.

Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta stated, “It is essential to imbibe the teachings of Bhagwan Mahavir in life”.

Vijender Gupta explained that Jain philosophy promotes peace and love as the foundation for progress. He added that practising these ideals is essential for building a balanced society.

Acharya Lokesh remarked, “Problems like war can be resolved through Bhagwan Mahavir’s philosophy of non-violence”.

Acharya Lokesh highlighted the Jain community’s contribution to nation-building through education, healthcare, trade, and social service. He further stated that Mahavir’s message of peace, compassion, and pluralism can significantly influence the global order in the present era.

Pragya Sagarji noted that Mahavir Jayanti is not merely a celebration but a call to practise ‘ahimsa’, ‘aparigraha’, and ‘anekant’ in everyday life. He added that the principle of ‘live and let live’ remains highly relevant in today’s world.

Bhagwan Mahavir Ahimsa Bharti Trust and Sakal Jain Samaj organised the programme. Mohan Singh Bisht, Deputy Speaker of the Delhi Assembly, attended the event. Several prominent members of the Jain community were also present.

Contributors, including Pankaj Jain, Manoj Jain, Praveen Jain, Mahendra Jain, and other volunteers, successfully supported the programme.
