Voting for the 70 seats of the Delhi Assembly is taking place today, February 5. Polling will continue until 6 PM, with voters lined up at polling booths since the morning to cast their ballots.
According to the Election Commission’s final list, Delhi has a total of 1,55,24,858 voters this year. Among them, 83,49,645 are male, 71,73,952 are female, and 1,261 voters identify as third gender. Notably, 2 lakh individuals will vote for the first time in this election. A total of 13,033 polling booths have been set up across Delhi. Additionally, senior citizens above 85 years old will have the option to vote from home.

To ensure a smooth voting process, the authorities have deployed a heavy security presence. A total of 220 companies of paramilitary forces, 35,626 Delhi Police personnel, and 19,000 home guards are on duty. Approximately 3,000 polling stations have been categorized as sensitive, where stringent security measures are in place. The police will also monitor these stations using drones.
