Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has begun a two-day visit to Arunachal Pradesh, where he will celebrate Diwali with soldiers stationed in the strategic Tawang region along the India-China border. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju is accompanying him on the visit.
Singh announced his departure on X, sharing his enthusiasm to engage with the troops and attend the inauguration of a museum dedicated to Major Ralengnao Bob Khathing, a decorated Indian Army officer. “Looking forward to interacting with Armed Forces personnel and attending the inaugural ceremony of a museum dedicated to brave Army officer Major Ralengnao Bob Khathing,” he posted.
The visit comes shortly after a major diplomatic breakthrough between India and China regarding patrolling protocols along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Eastern Ladakh. The recent agreement, confirmed by both nations, is seen as a critical step toward easing the prolonged military standoff since the Galwan Valley confrontation in May 2020.

On Wednesday, Singh will also flag off the Indian Air Force’s ‘Vayu Veer Vijeta’ Car Rally, a nationwide event marking the IAF’s 92nd anniversary and celebrating the 25th anniversary of India’s victory in the Kargil War. The rally, which began on October 8 from Thoise in Ladakh, has covered over 7,000 kilometers. The 52-member team includes air warriors, women participants, and a contingent from the Uttarakhand War Memorial.
The Defence Ministry highlighted that the rally aims to showcase the IAF’s legacy, bravery, and contributions to both defense and humanitarian efforts. Former Air Force chiefs have joined the rally at different stops to encourage and motivate the participants.
