The construction of the bridge was hindered by heavy rain on Wednesday night, but the rescue team members were fortunate to have clear skies on Thursday.

After being successfully evacuated, around 8,000 people were placed in about 82 relief camps.

Locals predict that the death toll will continue to climb when additional victims hidden beneath rubble are found.

Pinarayi Vijayan, the chief minister, is scheduled to arrive in the impacted districts. In addition, he will preside over an all-party conference to talk about the extensive reconstruction process. The Process needs to start because Churalmala and Mundakayil, two villages, have essentially been completely wiped away.
