Danish Ali denies allegations of anti-party activities amid BSP suspension

On Saturday, Danish Ali, the suspended Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP, expressed his disappointment with the decision to suspend him, refuting claims of engaging in anti-party activities. In an interview with ANI, Ali asserted that he had never been involved in any actions contrary to the party’s interests, citing the people of Amroha as witnesses to his loyalty.

Ali defended his stance against what he deemed as “anti-people policies” of the BJP government and pledged to continue doing so. Despite the suspension, he remained steadfast in his commitment, stating, “If doing this is a crime, then I have committed this crime, and I am ready to face the punishment for it.”

The BSP’s letter to Danish Ali, explaining the suspension, emphasized their earlier warnings against engaging in anti-party activities. The letter also mentioned the party’s disappointment in Ali forgetting the promises made upon joining, without specifying any particular incident leading to the suspension.

The suspension occurred after Danish Ali engaged in discussions with various opposition leaders, following controversial statements made by BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri in Parliament. Ali expressed his dismay at the deterioration of decorum in Parliament during Bidhuri’s remarks and called for a privilege probe against the BJP MP.

Bidhuri, who had previously made communal slurs against Ali, apologized to the privileges committee for his inappropriate remarks during a meeting chaired by BJP MP Sunil Kumar Singh. The Lok Sabha privileges committee gathered statements from both Bidhuri and Ali, addressing the accusations exchanged between the two MPs.

The incident that triggered the controversy took place on September 22 when Bidhuri directed offensive remarks at Danish Ali during a Lok Sabha discussion. Ali’s letter to Speaker Om Birla requested a privilege probe, citing the “foul, abusive invectives” directed at him during Bidhuri’s speech.”
