Court Rejects Petition For Sanatan Dharma Raksha Board Formation

The Delhi High Court has rejected a petition seeking the formation of a Sanatan Dharma Raksha Board, similar to the Waqf Board, for protecting the customs and rights of Sanatan Dharma. A bench comprising Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela stated that this is a matter of policy, and the court cannot interfere.

Petitioners Cite Need for Protection Board

The petition was filed by the Sanatan Hindu Seva Sangh Trust. It alleged that followers of Sanatan face increasing attacks and argued that no board exists to safeguard its rights and customs. The petitioner also highlighted the lack of response from the government to their representation, prompting them to seek judicial intervention.

The court, however, dismissed the plea, stating it could not direct the government to form such a board as it falls under policymaking.

Saints Call for Action on Sanatan Dharma Board

The demand for a Sanatan Dharma protection board has also been raised by religious leaders. Acharya Mahamandaleshwar recently urged for its formation, suggesting that only saints should serve as its officers.

He announced plans for a large saint conference during the Prayagraj Mahakumbh in January. The event will bring together 13 Akharas and Sanatan Dharmacharyas to discuss forming a Dharma Sansad and a Sanatan Board. The aim is to promote and protect Sanatan Dharma’s culture and traditions.
