Congress Unveils Campaign Anthem For Delhi Elections; Targets AAP And BJP

Ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, the Congress launched its official campaign anthem, ‘Har Jarurat Hogi Puri, Dilli Mein Congress Hai Jaruri,’ during a press conference on Thursday.

The 2.48-minute anthem is designed to promote the party’s vision for the city while directly targeting both the ruling AAP and opposition BJP.

The anthem critiques the current AAP government, accusing it of failing to fulfill promises and highlighting key issues impacting Delhi residents. It addresses local concerns such as the pollution in the Yamuna and the poor quality of drinking water. ‘Yamuna Saaf Nahi, Pani Na Saaf Hai,’ the song boldly asserts, emphasizing the city’s infrastructure woes under AAP’s leadership.

In addition to criticizing AAP, the anthem outlines Congress’ plans for the city. It promises free electricity for households (up to 300 units) and introduces the ‘Pyari Didi Yojana,’ offering Rs 2,500 per month to women from low-income families. The song also tackles safety concerns, alleging that women in Delhi still feel unsafe despite AAP’s promises, while the government focuses on issues like alcohol sales instead.

Delhi Congress Chief Devendra Yadav shared his thoughts with a news agency, stating that the anthem reflects the growing frustration among Delhi’s residents. “Delhi is troubled, and the people’s expectations from the government have not been met. The Congress is the only party that can address the real issues of Delhi,” Yadav said. “This anthem is not just a song, but a reflection of the hopes we have for the future of Delhi.”

Congress national spokesperson Pawan Khera also commented on the anthem, emphasizing its energy and the party’s connection with the people. “These songs capture our promises and the enthusiasm of the Congress party. Our connection with the people is stronger than ever, and this anthem is a reflection of that enthusiasm,” Khera said.

The release of the Congress’ anthem follows the BJP’s campaign song, “Jo Ram Ko Lekar Aaye Unka Raj Hoga Dilli Mein,” which was launched to mark the first anniversary of the consecration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

With the Delhi Assembly elections set for February 5 and the results to be declared on February 8, both Congress and BJP are gearing up for a tough contest. Over 1.5 crore voters will head to the polls to decide the future of the 70-member Delhi Assembly.
