Lucknow: Infuriated party workers conducted demonstrations across the state after the Income Tax Department gave a notice of Rs 1823 crore to the Congress Party. In this, the Congress workers who came out on the road while protesting from the state office of Lucknow were halted by the Lucknow Commissionerate Police.
The police stopped the Congress workers by barricading the Mall Avenue Road. In Bareilly, Youth Congress workers took to the streets and demonstrated. They said that the Income Tax Department had issued two more notices in the name of the Congress party last night. On the behest of the Central Government, notice is being given to the Congress Party, while the Youth Congress workers have demonstrated at many places.

The police officials stopped the individuals protesting under Congress leader Aslam’s leadership in Moradabad. Angered by the action of the Income Tax Department, Congress leaders and their supporters also raised slogans, but were forcefully removed by the police. In Varanasi, youth workers, under the leadership of state president and candidate Ajay Rai, demonstrated their displeasure over the notice served by the Income Tax Department.
The protesting workers gheraoed the Central Government and said that every time the Government is using agencies to harass them. The intention of the government sitting at the Center is only to provide benefits to the entrepreneurs. Congress workers also demonstrated in other major districts of Uttar Pradesh and termed the Income Tax Department’s notice wrong.
Congress spokesperson Anshu Awasthi said that by using the Income Tax Department, the Central Government is harassing the Congress during elections. Congress accounts were also seized. The activism of central agencies is electoral.
