Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey Scripts Crime Drop Story In Pimpri Chinchwad

Pimpri Chinchwad recorded a decisive shift in its crime landscape in 2025 as aggressive policing, citizen participation, and technology-driven surveillance combined to push down overall crime, police data showed.

Authorities credited the ‘Our PC City’ mobile application and intensified field vigilance for tightening control over offenders and crime-prone zones across the industrial township.

Police identified 1,045 sensitive and crime-prone locations and digitally mapped 1,585 known criminals, enabling targeted patrolling and constant monitoring.

Officials said real-time inputs from citizens through the app strengthened preventive policing and reduced both bodily and property offences.

Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey described citizen reporting as a force multiplier that sharpened police response and accountability.

Overall, serious crimes fell to 6,904 cases in 2025, down from 7,125 in 2024. Murder cases dropped sharply from 85 to 63, while police maintained a 98 per cent detection rate.

However, attempt-to-murder cases rose from 168 to 194, with police sustaining 100 per cent detection. Body offences declined from 1,183 to 1,087, signalling improved deterrence.

Citizens Reshape Law-Order

Crimes against women presented a mixed picture. Molestation cases edged up from 387 to 392, while rape cases climbed significantly from 261 in 2024 to 301 in 2025, with a full detection rate.

Police confirmed that 299 rape cases involved known offenders, 120 stemmed from false marriage promises, and nine involved unknown accused, highlighting changing crime patterns rather than investigative gaps.

Property crimes registered a clear decline. Overall property offences fell from 2,474 to 2,190.

Vehicle thefts dropped from 1,264 to 960, burglaries reduced from 311 to 285, and robbery cases fell from 231 to 182, alongside improved detection rates.

Chain-snatching cases declined from 87 to 75, with detection surging from 57 to 83 per cent.

Cybercrime enforcement emerged as a standout achievement. Police registered 269 cybercrime cases, arrested 215 accused, and recovered ₹24.4 crore lost to digital fraud.

Swift ‘golden hour’ reporting enabled recovery of ₹18.5 crore, driving a 404 per cent surge in recoveries and a 75 per cent rise in arrests.

Authorities also intensified action against organised crime. Police booked 253 offenders from 45 syndicates under MCOCA, seized 243 illegal firearms, the highest in six years, and confiscated 908 sharp weapons.

Commissioner Choubey said data-led policing, citizen trust, and relentless enforcement reshaped crime control in Pimpri Chinchwad and would continue to anchor the law-and-order strategy.
