Colonel Sofiya Qureshi’s Family Joins PM Modi’s Roadshow In Vadodara; Calls It A Moment Of Pride

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s roadshow in Vadodara on Monday witnessed an emotional and proud moment as the family of Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, one of the two women officers who led media briefings on ‘Operation Sindoor’, joined the celebrations and later met and held talks with him.

The family, including her parents Taj Mohammad and Halima Qureshi, brother Sanjay Qureshi, and twin sister Shyna Sunsara, was among the thousands who gathered along the route from Harni Airport to greet the Prime Minister.

The streets were alive with chants of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’, ‘Modi-Modi’, and ‘Vande Mataram’, as citizens waved the national flag and participated in the ‘Sindoor Samman Yatra’.

A Proud Moment For The Qureshi Family

Following the roadshow, the Prime Minister also met and held talks with Colonel Qureshi’s family.

Her father, Taj Mohammad, shared his thoughts after the meeting, “I was ecstatic to meet the Prime Minister. Every citizen should understand the importance of serving the nation. The future of Bharat lies in unity and in the strength of its youth.”

He emphasised girls’ education, stating, “The country progresses only when we empower our daughters. What does Bharat Mata mean if we don’t educate and strengthen our girls?”

Twin sister Shyna Sunsara expressed her joy, “It was an honour to meet PM Modi. He has done so much for women’s empowerment. Seeing my sister serve the country makes me proud not just as a sibling, but as a citizen. She is no longer just my sister, she is the country’s sister.”

Many attendees wore themed costumes celebrating the Indian Armed Forces and PM Modi’s leadership during Operation Sindoor, India’s military response to terror hubs in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Members of the African community in Vadodara held placards and actively welcomed the Prime Minister, declaring, ‘Peace was attacked: India roared back with justice’ and ‘India’s courage is the light that ends the evil of terrorism’.

PM Modi Thanks Citizens For Warm Reception

In a post on X, PM Modi said, “It was an immense joy to be in this city rich with culture and heritage. Today’s roadshow was spectacular! Thank you to all who showered blessings in such large numbers — and that too in the morning!”

The Prime Minister expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming affection shown by the people of Vadodara, calling the energy and patriotism of the crowd truly inspiring.

He also lauded the citizens for turning the event into a celebration of national pride, unity, and resolve.

The Prime Minister’s visit showcased not only public fervour but also his strong focus on advancing the development agenda.

During his time in Gujarat, PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for development projects worth a staggering ₹82,000 crore.

These projects span across multiple sectors, including infrastructure, energy, water supply, urban development, and transportation, aimed at boosting Gujarat’s economic growth and improving the quality of life for its citizens.

The initiative reflects the government’s continued focus on holistic and sustainable progress for the state, reinforcing Gujarat’s position as a key driver in India’s journey towards becoming a $5 trillion economy.
