CMD Upendrra Rai Donates ₹50 Lakh To Aasht Shaheed Inter College; Lays Foundation For New Gate

Upendrra Rai, CMD and Editor-in-Chief of Bharat Express News Network, visited Mohammadabad in Ghazipur and made a generous donation of ₹50 lakh to Aasht Shaheed Inter College, his former school.

The funds will be used to construct the southern entrance gate of the college, which will be named after his late mother, Radhika Devi.

He also laid the foundation stone for the new gate.

Emotional Reflections & Spiritual Wisdom

Addressing the audience, CMD Upendrra Rai expressed deep emotion and spiritual humility, stating that though he often speaks with ease on various topics, the occasion left him nearly speechless.

He invoked the blessings of Goddess Saraswati and quoted poet-saint Malookdas to emphasize the depth of devotion beyond verbal expression, saying, “Sumeran mera Hari kare, main paaya vishraam.”

Revisiting School Memories

CMD Upendrra Rai fondly recalled his days at Aasht Shaheed Inter College, where he studied.

He narrated how Sitaram Babu Sahab, who survived eight bullet wounds, inspired him during a community yagna. This, he said, marked the beginning of his journey as the youngest participant in a knowledge-based campaign in 1994.

Motivated by these early experiences, he memorized 712 verses of the Bhagavad Gita- 128 of which he still remembers.

Quoting Lord Krishna’s teachings, CMD Upendrra Rai spoke about the significance of knowing the true essence of the divine, stating that knowledge leads one closest to God.

He stressed that students build humanity and citizenship at home and refine these values in schools.

“Life is full of exams,” he said. “Struggle is essential – without it, life is lifeless.”

CMD Upendrra Rai expressed his hope that many future students from the college would have similar opportunities to contribute meaningfully.

While presenting the donation cheque to the school principal, he also expressed his desire to donate ₹1 crore to Nirala Vidya Mandir, another school where he studied – if 100 people from Sherpur publicly support the initiative.
