CM Stalin Signs Multiple MoUs During 17-Day US Visit For Investments

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin is on a 17-day visit to the US, seeking investment opportunities. During his trip, he has signed several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with major companies in San Francisco.

Firstly, CM Stalin signed an MoU with Nokia to establish a New R&D Centre at SIPCOT, Siruseri in Chengalpattu. This centre will be Nokia’s largest Fixed Network test bed globally, focusing on 10G, 25G, 50G, and 100G PON technologies. The project will cost Rs 450 crore and create 100 jobs.

Next, CM Stalin secured an MoU with the PayPal group for an Advanced Development Centre in Chennai. This centre will focus on Artificial Intelligence and provide 1,000 jobs.

He also signed an MoU with Yield Engineering Systems to set up a semiconductor equipment development and manufacturing facility in Sulur, Coimbatore. The Rs 150 crore project will generate about 300 jobs.

Additionally, CM Stalin agreed on an MoU with Microchip for an R&D centre in Semiconductor technology at Semmancherry, Chennai. This centre will cost Rs 250 crore and is expected to create 1,500 jobs.

An agreement with Applied Materials was also signed for an Advanced AI-enabled Technology Development Centre in Tharamani, Chennai. This centre will focus on Semiconductor manufacturing and equipment, providing 500 jobs.

The Chief Minister signed an MoU with Infinx for a Technology and Global Delivery Centre at ELCOT, Vadapalanji in Madurai district. This Rs 50 crore project will generate 700 jobs.

Another MoU with Ohmium was finalized for a manufacturing facility for electro-user components and hydrogen solutions in Chengalpattu. The Rs 400 crore project is expected to create 500 jobs.

Finally, CM Stalin signed an agreement with GeakMinds for an IT & Analytics Services Centre in Chennai, which will generate 500 jobs.

Accompanied by his wife Durga Stalin, Tamil Nadu Industries Minister T. R. B. Raja, and senior officials, CM Stalin is visiting San Francisco and Chicago. His trip, which began on August 27, will end on September 14 when he returns to Chennai.

This visit follows the Tamil Nadu government’s previous signing of MoUs worth over Rs 6 lakh crore at the Global Investors Meet earlier this year.

CM Stalin has previously visited the UAE, Singapore, Japan, and Spain since taking office in May 2021, seeking investment for Tamil Nadu.

Tamil Nadu, already a hub for iPhone manufacturing with Foxconn, Pegatron, and Tata Electronics expanding operations, is set to begin assembling Pixel phones and drones through Bharat FIH, a Foxconn arm. CM Stalin is expected to meet Google CEO Sundar Pichai and other Fortune 500 company heads.
