CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan Inaugurates Metro Model Coach, Says “Metro Will Not Be Limited Only To Bhopal”

The residents of Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, will soon receive the gift of metro. The trial run for the metro will start this September, and by next year in April-May, it will be operational for the public. On August 26, the model coach of the metro was presented to the general public for viewing in the Smart City. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also inspected this coach.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan stated that Madhya Pradesh is achieving new heights in urban development. The state received 13 awards in various categories for five smart cities in the India Smart City Awards Contest 2022. The state was also awarded the Best State award. Indore secured the top position in the National Smart City Awards. The regularization of 2,792 unauthorized colonies in the state will benefit 3.5 million people. CM Chouhan was addressing the unveiling ceremony of the metro train’s model coach at the Smart City Park in Shyamla Hills.

CM Chouhan announced that the metro will not be limited only to Bhopal. It will be extended to Mandideep, Sehore, and eventually to Bairagarh. Trial runs will start in both cities in September, and the metro rail will start operating by April-May. Now, both Bhopal and Indore will have metro rail systems. He mentioned that the metro will bring numerous benefits, saving time and providing comfortable travel.

A real model of the metro train coach was showcased in the Smart Park. After the unveiling, the model coach will be open for children and the general public to view. A metro train consists of three such coaches. The preparation for the trial run of the 5-kilometer metro in Bhopal and the 6-kilometer metro in Indore is progressing rapidly. In Bhopal, the construction of the Orange and Blue lines of the metro, with a total length of 31 kilometers and a cost of 7,000 crore rupees, is underway.

The Orange line spans 17 kilometers from Karond Chauraha to AIIMS, while the Blue line spans 14 kilometers from Bhadbhada Chauraha to Ratnagiri Chauraha. The construction of the Orange line is progressing swiftly. In the case of the Indore metro, the Yellow line is under construction with a total length of 31 kilometers and a cost of 7,500 crore rupees.
