CM Rekha Gupta To Inaugurate Delhi Shabdotsav 2026 Today

The organisers will hold the inaugural function of ‘Delhi Shabdotsav 2026’, a three-day Indian literary and cultural festival, today at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will inaugurate the festival, marking the beginning of one of the country’s largest literary and cultural gatherings.

According to officials, the festival aims to promote Indian literature, culture and creative dialogue by bringing together writers, thinkers, artists and students on a single platform.

‘Delhi Shabdotsav 2026’ will feature over 100 prominent speakers, including National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Sunil Ambekar, Manmohan Vaidya and Sachchidanand Joshi.

The programme includes more than 40 book releases, six cultural performances, and two poets’ meets, making it a comprehensive celebration of literary and artistic expression.

The event is likely to attract literature enthusiasts, students, scholars and cultural practitioners from across the country.

Poster Launch and Government Briefing

Earlier, after the poster launch on December 29, Art and Culture Minister Kapil Mishra briefed Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on the festival’s schedule and related campaign activities.

Sharing details on the social media platform X, CM Gupta wrote that the organisers’ team met her under the leadership of Cabinet colleague Kapil Mishra.

She said that renowned thinkers, writers and speakers from across India will participate in ‘Delhi Shabdotsav’ from January 2 to January 4, jointly organised by the Delhi Government and Suruchi Prakashan.

She also noted that the programme will include book releases, cultural presentations and a poets’ conclave, reflecting India’s diverse literary and cultural traditions.

Several dignitaries, including Cabinet Minister Ashish Sood, MLAs Abhay Verma and Rajkumar Bhatia, along with other distinguished guests, will be present at the inaugural ceremony.

Art and Culture Minister Kapil Mishra earlier announced that students from nearly 40 universities across the Delhi NCR will participate in the festival, underlining its focus on engaging youth in cultural and literary activities.

The festival will showcase a rich range of programmes such as Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Bhajan Sandhya, Kavi Sammelan, and Somnath Jyotirlinga Darshan.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Chhattisgarh Home Minister Vijay Sharma are expected to attend the event.

‘Delhi Shabdotsav 2026’ reflects the Delhi Government’s broader vision to position the national capital as a hub for literary and cultural dialogue, fostering creativity, intellectual exchange and cultural pride.
