CM Mamata Banerjee Calls For Alertness Before Vote Counting In West Bengal

Just hours before counting began for the two-phase Assembly elections in West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee issued a late-night appeal to party workers, calling for heightened vigilance throughout the counting process.

In a message posted shortly after midnight, the CM urged her supporters to remain watchful and proactive. She asked workers to stay awake, monitor developments closely, and report any irregularities without delay

CM Mamata Banerjee claimed her party had received inputs suggesting deliberate power disruptions in several locations across the state. She pointed to incidents reported in areas such as Sreerampore in Hooghly, Krishnanagar in Nadia, Aushgram in Burdwan, and a counting-related site at Khudiram Anushilan Kendra in Kolkata.

According to her, these outages occurred in a staggered manner, raising concerns about transparency.

The Chief Minister further alleged that surveillance systems had been disabled in certain locations and that suspicious vehicle movements were taking place near strong rooms where voting machines are stored.

In her message, she instructed party members to challenge any unusual activity, demand access to CCTV footage, and file formal complaints when necessary. She also accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of being behind these developments.

Earlier in the evening, Banerjee had met counting agents for the Bhabanipur constituency, where she is contesting against Suvendu Adhikari.

During the meeting, she reportedly briefed them on maintaining alertness throughout the counting process and adhering strictly to procedures.

Party sources indicated that Banerjee expressed strong confidence in her party’s performance, asserting that both her own victory in Bhabanipur and the success of the Trinamool Congress across the state were certain. She also cautioned that early trends might suggest a lead for the opposition, but maintained that the final outcome would favour her party.
