On Wednesday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his message to devotees visiting the Char Dham pilgrimage, urging them to follow responsible practices during their journey.
The remarks came as the doors of Kedarnath Dham opened. This marked the beginning of a significant phase of the annual Char Dham Yatra.
In his response, CM Dhami thanked the Prime Minister for his message, describing it as thoughtful and rooted in devotion. He emphasised that the pilgrimage represents more than religious faith, highlighting its role in preserving cultural traditions and fostering national unity.+
The Chief Minister also assured that the state government is focusing on providing a secure and well-managed experience for pilgrims. He further added that both residents and visitors would embrace the Prime Minister’s suggestions, aiming to make this year’s yatra organised and meaningful.
Earlier, PM Modi had urged travellers to prioritise cleanliness, support local products under the ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative, and strictly follow guidelines throughout the journey. He also highlighted the importance of protecting the fragile Himalayan environment and encouraged visitors to act responsibly.
In his message, the Prime Minister noted that the pilgrimage should not be viewed only as a spiritual visit but also as an opportunity to promote harmony and service.
Traditional rituals and chants marked the reopening of the Kedarnath temple, drawing large crowds of devotees from across the country.
The occasion signals the start of the pilgrimage season, with thousands likely to visit the revered shrine in the coming weeks.
