A young student from Class 5, identified as Zoya, tragically passed away at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) following a horrific incident that occurred inside the washroom of Amla Tola Kanya Vidyalaya in Gardanibagh, Patna.
She had sustained severe burn injuries to her face, throat, and eyes.
The incident, which took place earlier this week, has triggered widespread outrage in the local community.
Zoya’s family has raised serious concerns, alleging that her death was not an accident but a premeditated act of violence.
An FIR has been registered at the Gardanibagh Police Station against unidentified individuals on charges of murder, based on a statement by the victim’s father.
Speaking to the media, Zoya’s sister, Nargis, accused a teacher named Anil Sir and others at the school of conspiring to kill the child.
She claimed Zoya had recently confided that she had witnessed a teacher behaving inappropriately with another girl.
According to Nargis, Zoya was later threatened with expulsion if she disclosed the incident.
“School ends by 10 AM, but she didn’t return home. Later, we were told she was found unconscious in the washroom. This is not an accident — this is murder,” she alleged.
Zoya’s mother also blamed the school staff, stating they were responsible for setting her daughter on fire.
Despite these serious allegations, police officials confirmed that the victim’s dying declaration did not name any individuals.
Authorities are now analysing CCTV footage from the school and questioning both students and staff to determine how Zoya might have accessed inflammable materials.
Central Superintendent of Police, Diksha confirmed that the case is being thoroughly investigated from all angles, including the possibility of a prior molestation incident mentioned by the family.
“We are exploring every lead. An FIR for murder has been registered. No arrests have been made yet,” she said.
The incident has sparked widespread protests in the Gardanibagh area.
Locals gathered outside the school and police station, demanding swift action and accountability.
Many held placards calling for justice for Zoya and a thorough investigation into the circumstances of her death.
The growing unrest has brought student safety and school accountability back into sharp focus across Patna.
