Christ University Delhi-NCR Inaugurates Media Innovation Center

Ghaziabad, August 28: Christ University, Delhi-NCR, inaugurated its Media Innovation Center (MIC) on Wednesday, marking a significant milestone for the institution. The event, attended by eminent figures in journalism, diplomacy, and media, offered students fresh perspectives on the evolving media landscape.

Traditional Lamp Lighting Ceremony

The inauguration began with a traditional lamp lighting by the Dean, Dr. Josie P. George, and other distinguished guests. Fr. Josie P. George emphasized that the MIC would serve as a powerful platform for students to expand their skills in media and communication. “We aim to provide not only academic knowledge but also practical experience to prepare our students for the future media industry,” she said.

Keynote Speeches on Media’s Role

Montenegro’s Ambassador to India, Dr. Janis Darbari, highlighted media’s role in global diplomacy, calling it a powerful tool for promoting dialogue and cultural exchange. He stressed the need for responsible use of media to serve humanity positively.

Renowned journalist Abhigyan Prakash encouraged students to uphold the ethics of journalism and use media to empower society. “Your job is not just to provide information but to highlight stories that can enlighten and inspire,” he said.

Former Director General of Information Services, Sitanshu Kar, discussed media’s influence on public opinion and policy-making, emphasizing the need to use media power for societal betterment.

Launch of MIC Logo and Podcast

The event’s highlight was the unveiling of MIC’s new logo by Father Dr. Josie P. George and the launch of the MIC podcast by Rev. Father Peter M.V. The podcast will offer students a platform to engage with new media trends and industry leaders.

Coordinator Ms. Nippunika Shahid outlined the objectives of MIC, emphasizing its role as an incubator for student creativity and ideas. “We aim to provide students with the opportunity to understand media’s diverse and challenging scenarios and apply their skills in practice,” she said.
