Central Vista Project Gets The Status Of Parliament; What Will Happen To The Old Parliament Building

After 96 years, Indian Parliament bid farewell to the old Parliament building. Its been almost a century, after which India has got its new Parliament. Now, the grand Central Vista project is given the stature of New Indian Parliament. The triangular building designed by Padma Shri Awarded, Bimal Patel is an example of fine architecture which is designed while keeping in mind the Indian roots and Indians. It is to represent the world’s biggest population and every attempt has been made to bring it to reality.

Event to follow in Central Vista Project aka New

The Prime Minister will proceed to the new Parliament House while holding a copy of the Constitution after a photo opportunity and event in the Central Hall of the previous parliament building. He will be followed on foot by every MP.

As the seniormost members of parliament, former prime minister Manmohan Singh, JMM leader Shibu Soren, and BJP MP Maneka Gandhi have been invited to speak at the special event at Central Hall of Parliament.

The 96-year-old structure, which was constructed in 1927 and was where Jawaharlal Nehru gave his “midnight hour” address and the Constitution was ratified, was deemed insufficient for today’s requirements, particularly in terms of MP offices and contemporary information technology.

The building — designed by British architects Sir Edwin Lutyens and Herbert Baker — will be “conserved, as it is an archaeological asset of the country,” sources have said.

In his address at the Day One of the special session of parliament, PM Modi said, “We are leaving this building with hope for the future… Today is the day for remembering the 7,500 MPs who have served here… I salute every brick of this building”. He also recounted the significant events that occurred during the previous nine years, including as the repeal of Article 370 and the implementation of the GST known as “One Nation One Tax.”
