The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) confirmed on Friday that Class 10 and Class 12 Board examinations for the 2026–27 academic session will commence on February 16, 2027.
All examinations will begin at 10:30 AM, according to the schedules released by the Board.
CBSE reported that more than 19.8 lakh Class 12 students and over 26.5 lakh Class 10 students have registered for the upcoming examinations.
The Board explained that it prepared the date sheets using the final subject combinations submitted by schools through the List of Candidates (LOC).
Students in Class 10 will appear for examinations across 83 subjects, while Class 12 candidates will take papers in 121 subjects.
The schedules have been released 101 days before the examinations begin.
CBSE said it examined over 40,000 subject combinations while preparing the examination timetable. This process aimed to prevent clashes between examinations for subjects selected by individual students.
The Board ensured sufficient preparation time between papers for commonly combined subjects across both classes.
CBSE incorporated the tentative schedules of major entrance examinations for Class 12 students while finalising the timetable.
The Board said it had attempted to conclude the examinations well before entrance tests begin, allowing students to prepare without additional pressure.
Officials considered the number of candidates appearing at individual examination centres on particular days to ensure smooth arrangements.
The Board further designed the timetable to reduce prolonged teacher absences from schools during the evaluation period.
CBSE said the planning process aimed to balance students’ academic requirements, examination logistics and school responsibilities.
