CBI Arrests Haryana IPS Officer Deepak Gehlawat In Bribery Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Deepak Gehlawat, a 2012-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Haryana cadre, on allegations of accepting bribes.

The officer was posted with the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) in Delhi at the time of his arrest.

The investigation began after the CBI registered a case on June 8, 2026, against a Delhi Police inspector and two private individuals.

During the probe, the agency alleged that Gehlawat had demanded money to suppress cases related to fake medicines in Puducherry.

Earlier in the investigation, the CBI had arrested the Delhi Police inspector along with six other individuals.

During the operation, the agency recovered approximately ₹25 lakh as trap money and ₹90 lakh in cash. They also seized several important documents as part of the investigation.

Following Gehlawat’s arrest, the CBI conducted searches at multiple locations linked to him.

The raids led to the seizure of digital devices, hard disks, and other documents that the agency believes could be relevant to the investigation.

The CBI has stated that the case remains under investigation.

According to the agency, further action will depend on the outcome of ongoing questioning and the evidence collected during the probe.
