Canadian Ministry Takes Action Against Hate Threats Targeting Hindu-Canadians
Canada’s condemnation of offensive videos targeting Hindus of Indian origin, describing them as an affront to Canadian values. The Ministry of Public Safety has emphasized the importance of respecting one another and following the rule of law.
Members of the ‘Hindu Forum Canada’ have sought security for the Hindu community due to threats from Khalistani elements, particularly in response to statements by designated terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, who urged Indo-Canadian Hindus to leave the country. Canadian officials, including Minister Dominic LeBlanc and Minister Harjit Sajjan, have strongly condemned the hate video, asserting that such acts have no place in Canadian society.
Canadian MP Chandra Arya has alleged that extremist elements are targeting Hindu-Canadians, urging them to return to India. He calls for vigilance and reporting of any incidents, expressing dismay at the glorification of terrorism and hate crimes under the guise of freedom of expression.
The article also highlights the strained ties between India and Canada, stemming from allegations of India’s involvement in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. India has rejected these allegations, leading to diplomatic expulsions and the suspension of visa services for Canadian nationals.
The Ministry of External Affairs has stated that Canada has not shared information regarding Nijjar’s killing. Despite these tensions, Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau has reiterated his belief in “credible reasons” linking India to Nijjar’s death.
Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a designated terrorist in India, was fatally shot outside a Gurdwara in Surrey, British Columbia, on June 18.
