Bus Collision In Telangana Leaves One Dead, 20 Students Injured

Tragedy struck on Friday as a head-on collision between two college buses in Medak district’s Narsapur area resulted in one fatality and injuries to at least 20 students.

The accident occurred near Classic Garden on the outskirts of the town.

The buses, belonging to BV Raju Institute of Technology (BVRIT), crashed in a violent impact that left both vehicles severely damaged.

Emergency responders and local residents faced a challenging task in rescuing the drivers, trapped in the wreckage. They transported both drivers to the government hospital in Narsapur.

One of the drivers, identified as Nagaraju, 50, from Patancheru, succumbed to his injuries despite medical efforts. His body has been moved to the hospital mortuary for an autopsy.

The second driver, Yadagiri, remains in critical condition.

The collision also resulted in significant injuries to around 20 students who were on board the buses.

Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with injured students being evacuated from the buses and rushed to hospitals in Narsapur, Sangareddy, and Hyderabad.

According to police reports, the accident occurred when the driver of one bus swerved to avoid an auto-rickshaw, leading to the head-on collision with the other bus.

Narsapur Circle Inspector John Reddy and other officials quickly arrived at the scene to coordinate rescue efforts and manage the situation.

The accident however caused a four-kilometer traffic jam on the Narsapur-Sangareddy road.

To alleviate the congestion, authorities deployed a JCB and a crane to remove the wreckage.

Police, college staff, and local volunteers worked tirelessly to clear the road and manage the traffic disruption.

The BVRIT administration, along with district officials, arrived at the scene upon hearing of the incident.
